Collaboration Event Ideas with Vancouver Design Community

Hello everyone! We are in discussions of possible collaboration event involving design with our friends from Vancouver Design Community. Some event topic suggestions

    • Navigating the overlapping responsibilities between Product Management & Product Design

    • Innovation vs iteration - When to push for bold redesigns vs incremental improvements

    • Design systems as product thinking - shared ownership and governance

    • How AI tools are reshaping both roles (and where they overlap)

    • “Who owns the user?” - When PMs and designers disagree on user needs vs business priorities

    • Speed vs quality - MVP mindset meets design excellence

    • Prioritization frameworks that work for both disciplines

Have a topic you’d like to see covered above or another recommendation? Comment below and we’ll create a poll to let the community decide. Thank you! Jackie Ho Product Manager & UX Engineer ProductBC Event & Marketing

Cloud Summit 2025: Join Us to Support Charity and Learn More!

Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you folks know that I am one of the organizing committee members of Cloud Summit 2025. Our event is on May 27th at the Orpheum from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. It is during registration day for Web Summit and should not have any scheduling conflicts. We have a great lineup of speakers including one from Matt Biilmann, the CEO of Netlify, as well as an AWS workshop on building serverless agentic workflows on AWS. We have a goal of raising $10,000 with all tickets sales going to the charity, Union Gospel Mission, to help support their work to help people overcome poverty, homelessness and addiction in Vancouver. As a bonus, there will be an after-party at Vesper Lounge, Free for Cloud Summit Pass Holders. I have also included a coupon code specifically for ProductBC members giving 60% OFF our $30 ticket: PRODUCTBC-CLOUD It should be a great event for PMs wanting to learn more about Cloud technologies and how to scale with them. https://cloudsummit.ca/

Ryan Smith I can kick off a question. From a product designer's and developer's standpoint, it feels like it's encroaching into our "lane". With the use of this AI rapid prototyping approach, I understand that it can really speed up the development of features to hammer out issues but design is a very human approach and requires observation and sometimes a bit of nuance. How do I make sure that the customer is not expecting the interactive prototype to be the final result and the designer is not just beautifying a UI after it's generated but really creating the UX that the customer really needs?
