The emergence of so many powerful tools is amazing. On one hand, technology seems more accessible than ever, but on the other hand, the barrier to true competence has in fact risen. Here, "competence" means being able to keep pace. But, those who master new tools are setting a very high standard, leaving many others struggling to even understand common applications and being left behind. Powerful tools make beginners feel good and be productive but also make experts superhuman. 2x of the efficiency used to be a WOW moment but when 10x is the expectation, 2x will be penalized instead of being rewarded.
