Hi folks, I'm curious if there are any events/workshops/Show and tell that would be like a source of a shared knowledge when it comes to Product designers and AI, what is their company/freelancing workflow, what tools are they using and how? I just came across a post that stated completely avoiding Figma for now and working just with AI and Vibecoding everything. It is hard to stay in the loop these days, it would be nice to meet with like-minded people who are also interested in this ๐
I was using Figma avidly. Then I found vibecoding so much more output and my time / investments.
it totally depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Component lib work - is essential and I think is unique for figma. Similarly for alignment/team-workshops - figjam all the way. But when it comes to screens/prototyping/interactions - there are so many skills folks can use (that layers on top of components) and the output is 2-3x. I know this because of Ryan Smith.
also this is a good resource: https://www.yummy-labs.com/
Traditionally UIs or high fidelity mockups were used to facilitate communication between designer + client before committing engineering resources to a design. AI Prototyping has significantly reduced the amount of time and technical barriers to get a working prototype to a client. I wouldn't completely avoid UI visualization tool all together as it is still a useful tool to help clarify details of specific flows and states.
In terms of events specifically my experience was that the cursor cafe event had a fair amount of depth and energy. I assume that the cursor hackathon and the product bc buildathon would have a lot of that too. Otherwise โhow I aiโ is a pretty consistently popular small-group discussion in the Lenny's Community meetups. Will share link to the March one in this channel later today!
